How far is GK Hair Haven from Delray Beach?
About 8.3 miles, which takes about 17 minutes from Atlantic Avenue when traffic is moving freely. Roughly 7.4 of those miles are on US 1, so the traffic lights along Federal Highway decide how long the trip takes on a busy afternoon; leave yourself a margin.
Starting from the beach end
From the ocean end of Atlantic Avenue the quickest route skips downtown: south on A1A to Linton Boulevard, then west to pick up US 1, which takes about 1 minute longer than starting downtown.

The Route
What is the easiest drive from Atlantic Avenue?
US 1, heading south, for all but the last half mile. There is no interstate to join and only three turns once you leave Atlantic Avenue.
Atlantic Avenue to East Palmetto Park Road
- Turn south onto SE 5th Avenue, the southbound half of US 1 through downtown Delray Beach.
- Stay on US 1 as it becomes Federal Highway, crosses into Boca Raton and becomes North Federal Highway, about 7.4 miles in all.
- Turn left onto NE Mizner Boulevard, which runs along the east side of Mizner Park.
- After about half a mile, turn right onto East Palmetto Park Road; the address is 157 E Palmetto Park Rd.
- Look for the gold GK Hair Haven decal on the front window. The head spa is a private room inside the salon at that address.
What to Book
Which head spa is best for a first visit from Delray Beach?
The Signature Head Spa, 90 minutes for $129. It starts with a close-up scalp analysis, moves through a deep cleanse, water therapy and a slow head and scalp massage, and finishes with a Dyson blow-dry, so you can go on to lunch on Atlantic Avenue with your hair done.
For a longer morning
The Luxury Head Spa adds scalp exfoliation, warm herbal steam and an extended head massage over 120 minutes for $159. The Chinese Herbal Head Spa is the same length at $190, built around herbal cleansing, steam and an herbal mask.
If an hour is all you have
The Classic Head Spa fits the scalp analysis, cleanse, head massage and blow-dry into 60 minutes for $99.
Saturdays
Can I fit a head spa into a Saturday morning?
Yes. Saturday hours run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and it is the only weekend day GK Hair Haven is open. With the first appointment of the day, even the 150-minute Package C has you back on Atlantic Avenue by about 11:50 AM.
Holding the first Saturday slot
Online booking opens 30 days ahead, which is the surest way to get the 9:00 AM start. If Saturday is full, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday run 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Tuesday and Sunday are closed.

Scalp Care
Do you offer scalp treatments as well as relaxation head spas?
Yes: four 90-minute scalp treatments, from $150 to $160, for oily roots, visible flakes, dry or damaged-feeling hair and thinning-looking hair. They are cosmetic care rather than medical treatment, and the scalp treatment page sets out which one suits which concern.
Why the cleanse matters
Two of the four, the Purifying Oily Scalp Detox and the Dandruff Relief Scalp Therapy, are built around a thorough cleanse. The American Academy of Dermatology advises concentrating shampoo on the scalp, where it washes away built-up products, dead skin and excess oil.

Facials & Eye Care
Can I add a facial or eye care on the same visit?
Yes, by booking one of three packages built on the Signature Head Spa. Package A adds a relaxation facial (120 minutes, $220), Package B adds Heavenly Eye Care (120 minutes, $200) and Package C adds both (150 minutes, $250); the head spa and facial packages page compares them.
Package B costs $49 less than booking its two parts separately, for a visit 30 minutes shorter (120 minutes instead of 150).
Just a facial
GK Hair Haven's eight facial, eye and hand services run from the 30-minute Express Facial at $70 to the 120-minute Rejuvenating Non-Surgical Facelift Facial at $190. All of them are on the facials menu.

What should I know before my first visit from Delray Beach?
Book ahead, arrive on time, and tell us about any scalp or skin conditions, allergies or fragrance sensitivities before the head spa begins. A late arrival may shorten your service.
Booking and changes
Book online through Zyloe at least 2 hours ahead and up to 30 days in advance, or call (954) 773-5420 during opening hours. Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. You can reschedule online.
What the relaxation research says
Relaxation is the point of the visit. A 2016 study of 34 female office workers found lower stress-hormone levels and blood pressure after 10 weeks of twice-weekly scalp massage, with no difference in heart rate, and NCCIH lists massage among the practices that can bring on the relaxation response. The study was small, so treat it as encouraging rather than proof.
