What is a scalp treatment at GK Hair Haven?
A scalp treatment is a 90-minute appointment built around one concern: oil at the roots, flakes, dryness, or hair that looks thinner than it used to. Products, cleanse and pace are chosen for that concern rather than for relaxation alone.
It builds on everyday hair-care advice, given the time to do it thoroughly. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends working shampoo into the scalp, where built-up products, dead skin and excess oil collect, and sparing the lengths so they do not dry out.
What a scalp treatment is not
A scalp treatment is cosmetic care. It cleanses, soothes and nourishes the scalp and hair; it does not diagnose or treat a skin condition, and it does not regrow hair.
Scalp Analysis
What happens during a scalp analysis?
Your specialist looks at your scalp up close with a camera and explains what it shows: oil around the roots, flakes, product buildup or dryness. It opens the Signature, Luxury, Classic and Chinese Herbal head spas and shapes the cleanse, products and finish that follow.
What the camera can and cannot tell you
The camera shows the surface: oil, flakes and buildup at the roots. It cannot say why hair is thinning or name a skin condition; that is a dermatologist's job, and the AAD's guide to diagnosing hair loss shows one examining the scalp with a dermatoscope.
A scalp analysis, in order
- You say what you have noticed: oily roots by midday, flakes on a dark top, or more hair in the brush.
- Your specialist looks at your scalp on camera and shows you the picture.
- Together you choose the cleanse, products and pressure.
- You leave knowing which scalp treatment, if any, would suit you next.
She takes a special camera to scan the condition of your scalp and then creates a treatment based upon your needs.

Cadence
How often should I book a scalp treatment?
When the concern you came in for is back; your specialist can suggest a rhythm once they have seen your scalp. Between visits, home care does most of the work: the AAD says mild dandruff can usually be treated at home by washing your hair regularly.
Signs it is time to come back
Roots feel coated within a day of washing, flakes show on dark clothes again, or lengths feel rough after heat styling. Changes in thinning hair are for a dermatologist to follow.
Know the Limits
When should I see a dermatologist about my scalp?
Before booking anything, if a scalp change is sudden, patchy, painful or not settling. The AAD says most dandruff needs no medical attention, but dandruff that does not clear with home care, or is severe, belongs with a board-certified dermatologist. For hair loss, the AAD adds that the sooner you find the cause, the better your outcome. See one first if you notice:
- Sudden, patchy or rapid hair loss
- Hair loss with itching, burning, pain or tenderness
- Red, scaly or oozing patches on the scalp
- Flaking that does not improve with a dandruff shampoo
- Scaling beyond the scalp, such as the eyebrows, ears or sides of the nose
- Hair loss together with tiredness, feeling cold or a change in weight
